WHO I AM

John is a Professor Emeritus of Information Technology and Communications Design at CSUMB. He earned his Ph.D. in 1978 from Northwestern University in Educational Psychology/Instructional Design. Recent publications include: “Documenting Learning with ePortfolios, coauthored with Helen Chen and Tracy Penny Light and published by Jossey-Bass in 2012, and  “Know Your ePortfolio.” published in Converge Magazine, summer 200


Dr. Ittelson was a faculty member for 30 years, first at CSU Chico and then as a founding faculty member at CSUMB. Additionally, he sits on the Boards of: Access Monterey Peninsula Cable Consortium, the CA ASCD. John has been an Apple Distinguished Educator since 2000, an Adobe Educational Leader and serves as the co-facilitator of the EPAC, a national group focused on using ePortfolios.

CourseNetworking is an academic social networking site. It is a different product and fills a different niche in the educational landscape.

CalStateTEACH is an alternative path to a multiple subject preliminary teaching credential. CalStateTEACH is designed specifically to serve teachers who are interns or who can volunteer to practice teach in an elementary school (grades K-6)
